PLAN AHEAD
Prepayment Towards Your Funeral
GIVE YOUR FAMILY PEACE OF MIND
It is never easy to think about our own mortality, let alone actually plan and even prepay one’s funeral.
Prepaying options towards your Funeral
As well as Preplanning, you might consider paying towards your funeral now*. This may help ease the financial burden for your family later.
Monies prepaid are held in an account created for you by The Funeral Trust. The Funeral Trust is administered by the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand.
- Under current Government policy, prearranged and prepaid funeral options up to $10,000 are excluded from asset testing when assessing subsidy eligibility in long-term residential care for the elderly.
- Make decisions about your own funeral in your own time and contribute towards the cost of the funeral now.
- You will have peace of mind because your affairs will be in order.
- It won’t affect your pension or other entitlements, and may even help you obtain a pension or part pension.
*An estimate cost for the funeral you want can be given, however this figure is not price fixed and is subject to inflation.
Please contact us to make an appointment with us to discuss your funeral. We’ll record your wishes, and estimate the cost of the funeral so you can decide how much you'd like to prepay towards funeral costs.
- The amount you prepay will then be applied to the entire funeral cost when the time comes.
- You are still able to change any of the funeral arrangements at a later date.
- No health checks needed: As The Funeral Trust is not an insurance policy, no health checks or personal questions are needed. All we’ll ask you about are your funeral choices, so your wishes are recorded.
